Edinburgh Nightlife...Bars!

It's no surprise Edinburgh is a top destination for weekends away for stag/ hen weekends due to the choice the city has to offer. If it's a weekend you are here for it's impossible to sample all of Edinburgh's nightlife highlights! There are several standout pubs and clubs that shouldn’t be missed if it's the nightlife you've come for...

Frankenstein's: (26 George IV Bridge ) - a bar decked out to the theme of the horror movie. The bar offers a wide range of cocktails, drinks and there is often promotions (who can resist a free drink?!). The music here can vary but usually tends to be chart. It's worth a visit if only to check out the unusual theme and cheap drink! Visit http://www.frankenstein-pub.co.uk/ for more information.

The Filling Station: (235 High Street, OLD TOWN) - Located on the High Street this American style bar is decked out with obvious memorabilia. It’s often really busy and the foods not bad either!

Bar Khol: (54 George IV Bridge, OLD TOWN, Edinburgh) - Established in 1993, this bar offers around 250 varieties of Vodka to sample! It's has a trendy appearance and often fills up with students. Playing r'n'b music (loud) this bar is a popular destination for all. It's probably not the type of bar you would spend all night in but it's definitely worth a visit at some point. The selection of drink on offer is extensive and is claimed to have one of the best cocktail selections in Edinburgh... You should note; it's not cheap!

Tonic: (34a North Castle Street) - A swanky cocktail bar. It has received rave reviews and again has a cocktail list that you could get lost in. Probably best to avoid if you're watching the pennies, if not then this is the place. It’s also wroth noting this place is highly recommended for places to eat.

Assembly: (41 Lothian Street) - Located on Lothian Street... You can't really go wrong here. It's a relaxing cafe by day and by night it converts into a place where party-goers start the night. The prices can vary - it's not cheap but it's not too expensive either (you will more than likely find the odd posh student here!). If you are looking for a wide range of drinks with some top tunes then this is the place for you!

The Three Sisters: (139 Cowgate, Grassmarket)- You will either love it or hate it! This popular bar more often than not scores large amounts of crowds. The Three Sisters attracts many students and hen parties...but don't let that put you of, it has a great atmosphere! If you are looking for somewhere to have a quiet drink this probably isn't for you, if it's a wild Saturday night out, then start your night here!

If in doubt of any of these recommendations then you should play it safe and visit the Omni centre. Here there is a selection of pubs including the Australian themed Walkabout which is always lively at weekends playing a selection of chart music. It's cheap and a good starting point for your night. Also within the complex is Lloyds Bar. You can't go wrong in here... the drinks are reasonable, the music’s good and it's within staggering distance to several clubs!
